For those who I have not seen or talked to in a while: I still love you, probably.
So I climbed Mt Snowdon a few weekends ago: there’s something quite romantic about starting the day on a warm, bright, spring morning and finding yourself trekking through knee-high snow with hail blowing into your face a few hours later. Not to mention calling mountain rescue because a friend started getting hypothermic, babbling nonsense, and generally not feeling too good. But that was a while ago now. (Bring on the three peaks in the Summer!!!)
Last weekend, I went to Edinburgh for the BMA (British Medical Association) students’ conference. This was probably the most fun work-related conference ever. Medics are great! I came back to England on saturday and on sunday I went off to Gloucester to a little rural village (apparently, it’s a town, but I wouldn’t believe that) and spent 3 days on ‘retreat’ with the 5 other sabbatical officers. This was probably the most productive and fun time I’ve had as a sabbatical officer. At least the elections did one thing: they got me 5 great people to work with.
It was brilliant being able to trek through country-side and I learnt about pooh-sticks and saw real deer and generally experienced real rural-England. Yes, it was very real. However, I was shocked to find chocolate bars for 60p there!!! That’s worse than London!
Oh yeah, and I haven’t had a shave since before Snowdon… apparently, I look old. Well, at least I’ve stopped feeling old!
Be good.
