Ahhh… we all remember the science museum from our childhoods. Well, some of us do. I actually forgot what Launchpad was when my flatmate was telling me that “it’s not as good as it used to be”, hmmm… rose-tinted glasses of childhood perhaps? Anyway, I had to go and see for myself and I think I disagree with her, not just because I can’t remember what it was like 10 years ago. The ‘bestest’ thing there was a new exhibition in launchpad where you could use your shadow to change the shape of a light projection on wall by reflecting the rays or diffracting them, and it even takes a video of you doing so, which you can email to yourself, supposedly… it was experiencing ‘technical difficulties’ when I tried.
Check out their edu-game, Launchball which reminded me of lemmings for some reason…
Other highlights included an exhibition on saving the planet from un-green things, where there was a display inviting people to write what they thought would save the world: one said to get rid of politicians, another ‘love’, another named some Arsenal footballers, but my favourite by far was “aliens will save the world”. Phew! Now I can stop worrying about pollution.
